Approximately 185,000 lower extremity amputations are performed every year in the United States. An estimated 2 million Americans are currently living as amputees, with the amputee population projected to double by the year 2050. Premier Surgical Associates in Knoxville is proud to serve the needs of the growing amputee population using the latest innovative approach to care in partnership with Amputee Associates.
Amputee Associates helps manage Premier Surgical Prosthetic Center in partnership with Premier Surgical Associates by providing protocols, training and additional tools for Premier Surgical’s dedicated Certified Prosthetist, Jason Hayden, CP, and his team. Premier Surgical Prosthetic Center specializes in working with upper and lower extremity amputees. Pre-operatively, Jason helps prepare patients physically and mentally for a successful prosthetic process.
Post-operatively, the patient is closely monitored on an in or outpatient basis to ensure proper care and healing of the residual limb and readiness to proceed with the prosthetic process. Jason works with the referring physician to determine the use of compression protocol if needed. Patients also receive personal support and encouragement through interaction with Premier’s Prosthetic Assistant, Tim Muncy, a below-the-knee amputee himself.
Through extensive education and training, Jason helps patients develop successful patterns of behavior that allow them to maximize their abilities and long-term mobility goals. Each prosthetic device is custom fabricated on-site, allowing for a superior fit, comfort and function that is tailor-made to give each patient the best opportunity for success.
